Checklist Kader Gagal: 10 Kebiasaan yang Harus Dihindari Kalau Mau Tumbuh

Saya pernah duduk di bangku rapat, antara nyimak dan bengong, sambil mikir: "Ini forum kader atau acara reuni teman ngopi sih?"

Ada banyak kader potensial yang datang — tapi pulang dengan catatan kosong. Penuh jargon, nol aksi. Kita semua pernah ada di posisi itu. Yang penting datang. Titik.

Tapi makin ke sini, saya mulai ngerasa: jangan-jangan, kita ini nggak kekurangan semangat. Kita cuma kebanyakan kebiasaan yang nggak disadari bikin kita... mandek.

1. Nunggu Dikasih Tugas, Bukan Bikin Gerakan

Kader gagal itu biasanya cuma aktif kalau dikasih tugas. Kalau nggak diminta, ya diam aja. Padahal, semangat organisasi itu bukan soal disuruh-suruh. Kalau kamu ngerasa peduli, harusnya gerak meski nggak disuruh.

2. Nonton, Nggak Ikut Main

Ada kader yang datang ke acara cuma buat jadi penonton. Duduk manis, senyum-senyum, lalu pulang. Organisasi jadi kayak panggung, dia cuma penonton tetap. Kalau terus begitu, kapan kamu belajar salah dan tumbuh?

3. Aktif di WA, Pas Forum Menghilang

Lucunya, kader tipe ini paling rame di grup WA. Kasih stiker, lempar wacana. Tapi giliran forum formal, diskusi lapangan, atau kajian, dia mendadak afk.

4. Nunggu Mood, Bukan Komitmen

Kamu nggak bisa nunggu mood buat jadi orang yang bisa diandalkan. Kalau semua kader cuma jalan waktu lagi semangat, organisasi kayak roller coaster. Naik turun, nggak jelas kapan sampai.

5. Jadi Kader Tamu

Selalu merasa “bukan bagian dari sini.” Ada kegiatan, bilangnya: “Ah, bukan bagianku.” Padahal kamu di sini. Di struktur ini. Tapi sikapmu kayak tamu: nongol sebentar, terus hilang.

6. Gampang Tersinggung, Susah Tumbuh

Sedikit dikritik langsung ngambek. Ditegur soal ketidakhadiran, baper. Dibilang belum amanah, malah bikin story nyindir. Kalau semua teguran kamu artikan sebagai serangan, kapan kamu bisa berkembang?

7. Sibuk Mikir Citra, Nggak Fokus Kinerja

Terlalu banyak kader yang lebih sibuk kelihatan keren di luar, tapi kosong di dalam. Rapat cuma buat foto. Aksi cuma buat konten. Citra doang yang dijaga, kinerja-nya? Nanti dulu.

8. Nggak Mau Dengar, Maunya Didengar

Ini bahaya laten. Kader yang sok tahu, alergi masukan. Pokoknya ide dia paling oke. Giliran orang lain bicara, dipotong. Dipelintir. Ditertawakan. Sikap begini bikin forum jadi tempat satu arah, bukan tempat tumbuh.

9. Hobi Menghindar, Ahli Alasan

Minta tolong dikit: “Maaf, ada acara keluarga.” Ajakan diskusi: “Wah, lagi kurang fit.” Semua kegiatan kayaknya tabrakan. Padahal... kadang cuma malas aja. Tapi dibungkus alasan yang niat banget.

10. Lupa Tujuan Awal

Kamu dulu masuk IPM buat apa? Ingin belajar? Ingin berdampak? Ingin jadi orang baik? Atau sekadar nyari teman dan status? Kadang kita terlalu larut di kegiatan sampai lupa arah.

Terus Gimana?

Saya nggak bilang kamu harus sempurna. Saya juga masih belajar. Tapi setidaknya, kita bisa bareng-bareng berhenti dari 10 kebiasaan ini. Satu-satu. Pelan-pelan.

Kalau kamu udah ngerasa terjebak di salah satu kebiasaan itu — tenang. Kita semua pernah. Yang penting bukan bersih dari kesalahan, tapi mau berhenti dan mulai lagi.

Karena yang bikin kita tumbuh bukan sempurna... tapi sadar kalau selama ini kita diam, lalu mutusin buat jalan lagi.

Checklist of Failing Cadres: 10 Habits You Need to Drop If You Want to Grow

I once sat in a meeting — half-listening, half-daydreaming — wondering: “Is this a forum or just another hangout group?”

So many promising young people came. But left empty-handed. Full of buzzwords, zero movement. We’ve all been there. Showing up is enough. Period.

But lately I wonder: maybe it’s not about lacking passion. Maybe we’ve just collected too many bad habits that keep us... stuck.

1. Waiting for Tasks, Not Creating Movements

Failing cadres usually only move when assigned. If no one tells them what to do, they disappear. But if you truly care, shouldn’t you act even when no one asks?

2. Spectators, Not Players

Some people show up just to watch. Smile, sit pretty, go home. The organization becomes a stage, and they’re permanent spectators. But when will you grow if you never risk failing?

3. Active in Chat, Missing in Action

These folks are loud in the group chat — stickers, jokes, hot takes. But when it’s time for serious forums or field discussions? Poof. Gone.

4. Based on Mood, Not Commitment

You can’t wait for the right mood to be dependable. If everyone moves only when excited, the organization becomes a roller coaster. Unstable, and directionless.

5. Guests in Their Own Team

Always feeling like “this isn’t really my part.” There’s an activity? “Not my department.” But you’re here. In this team. Yet you act like a guest: show up briefly, then vanish.

6. Easily Offended, Hard to Grow

Get a little feedback? Sulk. Missed attendance called out? Feels attacked. Told they’re not reliable? Vagueposting on social media. If every correction feels like an insult, how can you improve?

7. Obsessed with Image, Forgetting Effort

Too many care about looking cool outside, but are empty inside. Meetings are for photo ops. Projects are for social media. Image is polished, performance... postponed.

8. Want to Be Heard, Hate Listening

This is a silent threat. Cadres who think they know everything, allergic to input. Their ideas are the best. Others? Interrupted. Twisted. Laughed at. This turns discussions into monologues — not growth spaces.

9. Master of Excuses

Need a hand? “Family event.” Planning meeting? “Not feeling well.” Everything clashes. But... sometimes, it’s just laziness dressed in elaborate excuses.

10. Forgetting the Original Why

Why did you join IPM? To learn? To make a difference? To be better? Or just for the status and friends? Sometimes we get so caught up in routine we forget the direction.

So, What Now?

You don’t have to be perfect. I’m still figuring it out too. But at the very least, let’s quit these 10 habits. One by one. Slowly.

If you feel like you’re already stuck in some of them — it’s okay. We’ve all been there. What matters is not being flawless, but having the courage to restart.

Because growth doesn’t come from perfection... it comes from realizing we’ve been idle — and deciding to walk again.
